Nepal has beautiful and impressive mountains, but in contrast to the natural wealth many of its people live in poverty, even more after the devastating earthquake in 2015. Tourism is one major income, however, only in summer. So far there is no infrastructure or knowledge for winter tourism in Nepal.

Our partner the Ski and Snowboarding Foundation is working to change that. Together with Nepalese tourism students and the Nepalese mountain guide association the NGO teaches mountain guides and young Nepalese entrepreneurs how to ski and snowboard and set up basic infrastructure for winter sports.

The goal is to establish knowledge and a foundation for low-intensity sustainable winter tourism in Nepal.

You can read about them and watch the impressive images from the Himalaya here: http://blogs.dw.com/adventuresports/2016/08/25/the-highest-ski-school-in-the-world/

Videos and News about the foundation and skiing developments in Nepal can also be found on the fb page: https://www.facebook.com/NFSSskifornepal/?fref=ts .

For 1-28 February 2017 the foundation is still looking for skiing instructors for the motivated Nepalese students. Already more than fifty Nepalese students have signed up. The location will be in the Rolwaling Valley in very high altitude. The first training in February 2016 was a huge success and it promises to only be better next year.

You’d have to cover the flight to Kathmandu and basic transportation needs in Nepal. The lodging and food will be covered. Some material is already there, but you’ll have to bring your own skiing equipment (one pair is usually transported for free by airlines). You should know how to ski and if you have previous teaching experience it’s an advantage.

Sounds interesting?
